» Why does macaroni always stick to the pan when boiling?
No other form of pasta seems to do this but macaroni always does, without fail - why?Well, mine never does and I do NOT go in for this "add a few drops of oil" to it either so I can only think that you're not having the water boil at a fast enough rate.Sounds like you aren't adding enough water. If there is enough water the motion of the boiling will keep the macaroni moving freely so there will be no time for it to settle and stick to the pan. Use 4-6 cups of water and it shouldn't stick.
P.S. Also, I have found, adding a teaspoon of salt helps and even makes it taste better.Mine doesn't. Cooking noodles in plenty of water helps ensure perfect macaroni every time. Use an 8-quart pot to heat 4 to 6 quarts of water. Th...... - 2010-02-07

Hey Everyone,
After much research and asking around I'm gonna get a Nikon D80. I can go to Best Buy and get the body + 28-80mm lens for around $1200. I can go on Ebay and get the body, 28-80mm, 75-300mm, tripod, flash, 4gb card, wide angle lens, 3 filters, two cases, and cleaning kit for $1200.
Is it safe to buy a camera from ebay? The sellers all have solid ratings and everyone seems to be happy with their camera, but I'm wondering how they can sell it so cheap. I've heard places like Wal-Mart can sell electronics so cheap because they sell the ones that barely pass inspection tests. Could ebay be doing the same thing?

Chinese pork prices shaking Far East markets
HONG KONG - Hong Kong's Ministry of Commerce says it will ensure the supply of pork despite rapidly rising prices in mainland China. The situation is causing concern and now HK's only fresh pork supplier has increased the wholesale price of pigmeat by a hefty seven percent.
A spokesman for the Ng Fung Hong Company said the price was raised from HK$1,060 per 100 catties to HK$1,134. The industry estimates the increase to consumers will be around HK$2 a catty.
The adjustment has been made in response to the tightening market in China.

In with the happiness!" SOUND BITE: "Oniwa soto! Fukuwa uchi! (Out with the ogre! In with the happiness!)" At Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, the event has taken place continuously since the Edo era. This year, popular sumo wrestlers, including new Yokozuna Asashoryu, Yokozuna Musashimaru and Ozeki Chiyotaikai...... - 2010-02-07

» Is sexism still only a male thing still?
Sometimes it seems the anti-male sentiment is greater than the sexism towards females. No, there are sexist among both genders.
There are also sexist social standards.
I've found that most things that are sexist towards one gender. Is sexist towards the other.
Examples....
Women are made to sit at home with the babies, they love to cook and clean. Women are natural mothers. Children "need" mothers more then fathers. Father loose rights to their children....are very unlikely to get custody of the kids even if they are the better parent.
Women are weak, nonaggression, nonviolent, they must be protected, ....Men fight the wars, they work the more dangerous jobs, are required to sign up for SS, and die at a much greater rate i...... - 2010-02-07

» Looking for the name of a rock/punk band
I'm looking for the name of an 80's punk/rock band. The only piece of
information I have is a music poster, which also may be cover art to
an album. The poster depicted a repeating graphic of a bomb. As the
graphic repeats, the bombs get closer together till the outline of the
bombs connect to form crosses. The Background is green and the bomb
graphic is black. The band had a male lead singer and I remember
seeing the poster approximately in 1986. May be a U.K. band.Do you have an image of the poster? Can you upload it so we can view
it? Where did you see the poster? What makes you think it was a UK
band?A Google Images search located a book with 1500 photos-- may be worth
a look or maybe not. No guarantees, but would be in...... - 2010-02-07
» canon eos rebel gii
Hello this is my first post here and i was wondering if i got a good camera for
a beginner.
I got a Canon EOS Rebel GII 35mm SLR Autofocus Camera Body. $114.95
and a Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 28-90mm f/4.0-5.6 II Autofocus Lens -$89.95
thank you very much and iny tips would be helpful.
all prices are bhphoto
sign LathamWelcome to the forum. Yes, you got a very good camera for a beginner.
I would suggest that you also get a another lens. The Canon 50mm F1.8 is very inexpensive ($70 US) and it is a much better lens than the zoom that you have. There is nothing wrong with the lens you have but it's a slow lens that will limit your options when the lighting is not great.
A faster lens (like the 50mm F1.8 ) has...... - 2010-02-07
» Defining Forum Width for v. 3.0.7 Question?
Can I define a hard width for my board? So that it doesn't adjust according to an individuals screenwidth?
Also can I define the width of the Top "box" (where my login info is, along with the FAQ, Member list, Calendar, etc.) to be different than the width of the forum section?
I need to accomodate some ads on my pages and it would help to have flexibility in that later area. To make the top box narrower than I'd like the main forum section to be.
Any help would be great,
Thanks,

I have used their mascara, and yes, it is good. If you know what you're doing, it wont leave clumps, and if you use makeup remover or Vaseline, it isn't hard to remove.

» Please help!! I think my hammie's dying :(?
first off she's only about 10 mos old.
well she always pulls all of her bedding into a corner like a giant pile and sleeps in it. I noticed her leg was sticking out and I thought that was strange. so I went to pour some food in her bowl; she always charges out when she hears it. when she didn't come running, I got worried and picked her up out of her "cave". well her eyes are bulging and look crusty, and she felt sort of cold and limp, but shes twitching occasionally....what happened??? she was perfectly fine and walking around yesterday!
my parents won't take her to a vet, because money's tight with my dad's and grand mom's hospital bills, and shes a mouse.

» HOW TO: Merge tags
Is there any way to merge two tags?
For example, my users have created tags for both "book" and "books". This is redundant. There are also situations where we might have, for example, tags for "cat suits" and "catsuit". (Yes, I know there are the drop-downs with suggested spellings, but people often ignore these.)
There are dozens and dozens of threads with one or both of these tags. I also have this situation with many other tags. Going into each thread and manually changing them is simply not feasible. I need some sort of mass-merge capability.
Is there some way I could, for example, do a mass-merge to change all of my "book" tags to "books"?
If this capability is not available, would this be a good feature to add??

» Who will win the Minnesota recount, Norm Coleman or Al Franken and why?
I hate Franken as a person. The only way Coleman can't win is if they find a bunch of "nonexistent" ballots!
As of yesterday, funny guy Al Franken was losing in the Minnesota Senate race. With 98% of the precincts reporting, Norm Coleman led by 316 votes.
Recognizing that defeat was near, Franken did what any sane, rational person would do .. he asked for the government to engage in a "systematic, forensic search" for 133 ballots missing in Minneapolis. Oh and by the way, this specific precinct heavily favors the Democrats.
I'd be curious to know the final price tag of all this funny business. How much taxpayer money will be spent doing a "systematic forensic search" for ballots that probably don't even exist! I...... - 2010-02-07
» XBOX Review: Counter-Strike
Mix the new CS with XBL and you are pimpin' :p:. I have to tell you, if you are a hardcore CS gamer for the PC you will be stunned. The new graphics are just amazing. Low lag gameplay too. The one big complaint that I have about hte game is that it is really really easy to pwn at. I mean it seems like compaired to PC these players dont know what they are doing. Oh well tho. Good game, i would recomend it to anyone :Dthe first time i ever played this game online(pc, not xbox yet), i got shot in 2-5 secs, i hated that game, and the only thing that kept me going is to take revenge, soon i began loving it:), i recommend this game 2 everyoneCS is one of the best games. » Philosophy of Creativity
Hey - new in here - this is my first post. I dive deep. I try to get to the 'basement' with my thinking. Sometimes, I think I come close...
We've all heard the story of the five people that witnessed (whatever), were questioned by the police and told five different stories, because they were five different people. Likewise, of the old police car for sale - five men saw it, five men had their own ideas about it and then we are asked if there is one car, or five... or as many cars as there are people, that see it.
It's the same with every image you show. There are as many images in that one image as there are people, that notice that image. No two people will evaluate that image in the same manner because no two people share the exact...... - 2010-02-07

» I just inherited a STAR 9mm Largo. Is .380 ACP interchangeable wth the Largo round? ?
My research says that .38 ACP is interchangeable. I am not that familiar with handguns, just long guns and shotguns.you can buy 9mm Largo surplus ammo even cheaper than .380. But if your previous research says so, go with that. There are too many teenage experts on here for me to trust their opinion
Do not try shooting 9mm Luger ammo in it. The difference in case taper will cause problems for you380 is not interchangeable
Not even close
Largo is more like a 9mm magnum round- 9x23
380 is 9mm short-9x17
It should not even feed properly and if it does it will not have enough pressure to cycle the action.38 ACP is quite different from .380 ACP. .380 is a pocket pistol cartridge, and will not work in your 9mm largo. Buy the prope...... - 2010-02-07
