• I was wondering if a person could maintain their savings account and apply for public housing. If so, what is the limit to the amount of money you can have in savings and the waiting list for public housing?

  • There is a limit on assets, why should the tax payers being housing you if you can house yourself?

But of course you can have accounts, you can nor function in life without a bank account.

  • Contact the Housing Authority in your area for the income and bank account limits.

  • yes you can,its your own damn business how much you have and if it is in bank

  • Yes - the only thing about it is that for any amounts in checkings, savings or real property, PHA's count the passbook savings rate of .02 percent of the value (over $5000.00) for income to calculate rent.

In other words, if you have $10,000.00 in a savings account, $200.00 would be added as annual income (along with any other income you have) and the total is calculated for rent.
