It might also be a good idea (especially if you're gonna go for the shot anyway) to let someone clean it up and bandage it, but if you feel you can clean it adequately yourself, keep an eye on it for signs of infection. Warmth is usually the earliest sign, so if the area around the cut starts feeling feverish, turns red and/or starts to swell you should go have it looked at -right away-.
Cats don't carry more bacteria in their mouths than humans or other animals. We humans all have staph bacteria on our skin and the penetrating bite from a cat can carry that deep within your body - that can cause a serious infection. So if you have pain, swelling, redness etc. that really bothers you, you need to see a physician as fast as possible.
