• Heres the lines i can think of:
    1. I am responsible enough--- will let the cat/ kitten out, clean up after it...
    2. We live where there are tons of geckos and the cat/ kitten could kill em...
    3. A cat would make a perfect study buddy, bc their warm, furry, and dont talk...

    Way parents might dis agree:
    1. what about when we move in 3 years?? u no wel have to give the cat away

    2. how can u prove ur resposible...

    3. cats cant help u study

    4. cats r expensive when u concider food-- how do u expect 2 pay 4 all that??

  • Maybe you shouldn't try to force your parents to get an animal they will have to leave behind & don't want.....That's not fair to kitty!!

  • if you are lookin for a buddy id recomend a dog. cats can sometime be gone running around out in nearby fields and stuff but a dog is more close. but kitten??? just keep bugging them about it and hope they give in.

  • Lets see this is what i told to my mom to get a kitten:

1.Mom i can take good care of her you wont have to worry ill clean up her messes

2.Only pay about $10 for food which lasts like1-2 months.

3.Buy a least 2 litter packages lasts at least 3 months!

4.Pets help familes learn to love better and get more resposible

Good Luck Keep In Touch i wanna hear if you get a kitten or what.. =]

  • Kittens are not a joke. They are serious business. Perhaps you should really think about if you're ready to take on such a responsibility. I hear hermit crabs are easy to take car of, and just as fun! :)

  • If your parents are apprehensive about getting a cat, their foresight is probably in tune enough to see what types of hurdles are ahead. Ultimately, your parents make the decisions in their life based upon what is best for all of you. Best time to get a pet of you own is later in life when you have your own independence.

  • I dont know how to convice you just convice. Try using please, again and again.

  • I want to PROVE im responsible

  • Best advice I can think of is for you to answer those questions you've posed for yourself.

How WOULD you feel if you had to give the cat away when you moved in 3 years?

WOULD you even need to give the cat away IF you moved in 3 years?

How CAN you show that you are responsible? (With this one, I would not only think up an answer, but I'd also plan on actually going ahead and showing that I could be responsible... do chores without being asked... turn lights off when not in use... help out with dishes after dinner... do homework...

Cats can't help you study. Ok. Let's face it. They can't. I have 5. I know. Best not even "go there" in the first place with that "point."

Paying for a cat... hmm, do the homework... go to the store with your mom and check out cat food prices. Calculate how much food would cost... maybe call your local animal shelter and ask them for a ballpark figure of how much it would cost to have a kitten.

How WOULD you pay for all that? Work it off at home? Mow lawns?

Answer the questions you think you will be asked and that will put you on surer footing.

Here's hoping that, if not now, then in the near future, you will get to share your life with a sweet kitty.

  • The main point I picked up on the disgreeing is the moving in three years- you can't just have a cat and then give it away. If you KNOW you're going to have to give the cat away when you move, please don't get it- there's enough kittens/cats dying in shelters without you knowing you're going to get a pet you /have/ to give away.

And the fourth point is a good one- you're just thinking about the food? What about if they get sick and need vet treatment? What if they get hit by a car? Yes, the food can end up being expensive, but the vet, which most cats will end up seeing at some point, are major expensive.
