  • We can imagine no recommendation for using the government to manipulate fertility that does not have dangers. But this highlights the problem: The United States already has policies that inadvertently social-engineer who has babies, and it is encouraging the wrong women. If the United States did as much to encourage high-IQ women to have babies as it now does to encourage low-IQ women, it would rightly be described as engaging in aggressive manipulation of fertility. The technically precise description of America's fertility policy is that it subsidizes births among poor women, who are also disproportionately at the low end of the intelligence distribution. We urge generally that these policies, represented by the extensive network of cash and services for low-income women who have babies, be ended.


  • lol... have you ever seen the movie idiocracy? perfect example of the future scenario as the consiquence to this. funny movie but serious stuff. I completely agree. The problem is that high IQ and high society women are getting caught up in their aspirations for success and feel that a family will get in the way, whereas low class and low IQ women are not as pressured to be anything more than a housewife, and are therefore spitting out babies like no one's business :P


  • While a child's IQ is certainly influenced by his parent's, the phenomena of deviation toward the norm means that two lower IQ parents are as likely to have a normal intelligence child as a low IQ child. The same goes for two parents of higher IQ. So, you can turn off Idiocracy and start thinking about how the government can give equal educational opportunities to those average intelligence poor children instead of worrying about government conspiracies to make us all dumb.

    but just because that is happening doesn't mean there aren't smart women out there.
    This is just a strata of people-
    No matter how many things the government puts into place, the origins of families won't change,
    so there will always be people with higher and lower IQs and people with more kids than others.

    The global distribution is uneven, but things are being done, such as the one child policy.
    I don't think the race is detetiorating because it can be fixed- we just need to realise this sooner, before it's to hard to fix.

  • Though I understand the underlying premise of your question/comment, the 'weak' do eventually 'die out'. Regardless of better medications and longer lives, the strongest will still out-live the weak rather it is mental, emotional, physical and/or intellectual. There really is no way around this, it is the law of the land. Procreation will still continue amongst higher I.Q. individuals. It will also continue with physically stronger people and people with better immune systems etc. Believe it or not, there does need to be at least a small percentage of 'weak' people, however you wish to define that word in your case, because this causes more scientific discovery and analysis. If everyone was just alike and came from the same gene pools, we would run into other birth defects that are more common amongst people inter-marrying from the 'same tribe' and the mutations that go along with that. These people may have been better off intellectually however, there are sometimes physical ramifications to mating 'sameness' as it produces acute incestuous results if you were to study previous stats. based on your theory, surely this is brought up a time or two.

    We are also experiencing devolution due to medical advances that enable those who would have never have lived in the past to join the gene pool.
