• We rescued a kitten a few weeks ago, the vet says is about 8 weeks old now. He won't use the litter box at all. I don't think he's ever been inside a house before. I've tried scratching the litter with his paws, changing kitty litter and putting the box in a different room and he still continues to urinate on my bed and poop wherever he feels like it. I've gotten the smells out so he won't be attracted to go there again, and checked it with a blacklight(mainly the bed) to be sure it was gone. He dosen't like to be in the litter box, I've petted him and played with him while he's in there and he runs out. I have 2 litter boxes in the house, we have another cat that uses one of them (with no problem) and the other is just for him. What do I do? Is it possible that some cats can't be litter box trained....help!?

  • Bribe him with money

  • Try taking the kitty poop that it left You for a present and put it in the litter box. then put the kitty in it to smell it. they suggest you use clay little for kittens but I don't know why. also try wiping up the pee with a tissue and sticking that in the box. I think it will be ok after a little while.

  • I had some trouble with my new kitten...instead of taking him to litter box at random times, only take him after you feed him. Watch him finish his food and immediately pick him up and put him in the litter tray. Use one paw to scratch the litter. If he jumps out, put him back in. Sometimes we were doing it 10 times before the kitten would actually go. To begin with we had the litter tray in the bathroom and we could shut the kitten in and did not let him out until he had pooped or peed! Now it is in our laundry room downstairs and 9 times out of 10 the kitten runs down to use it as soon as he is done eating (still a couple of accidens though). Also, cats are very clean animals. Make sure you clean the litter tray once a day and completely empty it and disinfect it every 5-7 days.
    GOOD LUCK :)

  • Some cats take longer to want to use the litter box. When my neighbor brought over a kitten they said wouldnt use the litter box.. i put him in the litter box.. he looked around, pawed at the litter and jumped out.. from that time on he has used the litter box. its truly a blessing they couldnt litter train him.. if only they knew the breed and his worth when they gave him up.. they might not have brought him to us.. lol
Keep working with him.. it has to be something about the litter or litter box he dosnt like. if he wont even use it.. he knows its there and what its for but hes not liking something . some cats are picky about where they poop..lol Tiger wont use the litter box if its not been scooped out after each use.. lol

  • you should try taking the kitten in while the other cat is.....well using the litter box i know it sounds weird but most kittens learn this hibbit from mom so maybe that will hlp. or moving his mess (i know sounds gross) but its one method

i couldn't find much around the net but this was the best i could find

  • After the kitten eats take a warm wet towel and wipe the underside of your cat to stimulate the potty instinct. then show the cat to his litter box. It only takes a couple of times to do this and he will figure it out. I have 3 cats and it worked for all them.
